The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) aims to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment, by increasing re-use and recycling and reducing the amount of WEEE going to landfill. It seeks to achieve this by making producers responsible for the collection, treatment, and recovery of waste electrical equipment.
The WEEE Directive became law in the UK on 2nd January 2007 with an implementation date of 1st July 2007.
QED is fully compliant with the requirements of the WEEE Directive. Our Unique Producers number is WEE/DB0044SY/PRO.
QED's Business-to-Business (BtoB) Obligations:
New WEEE - The disposal of all EEE that QED are the producer of, made available for sale on or after 13th August 2005. Historic WEEE - The disposal of all WEEE being replaced by new EEE sold by QED, on a like for like basis, where we are the Producer of the new EEE and the where the WEEE was made available for sale to the customer, before the 13th August 2005.
If you have any WEEE that QED are the Producer of, that requires collection and disposal of, please contact our Sales Department on 023 9258 0600 or email us on sales@QEDonline.co.uk . We will supply you with a disposal request form and then arrange collection of any end of life equipment that QED are responsible for.
QED's Business-to-Consumer (BtoC) Obligations:
QED are members of the Valpak WEEE Compliance Scheme. This Scheme has made an investment towards the development and upgrade of 'Designated Collection facilities' (DCFs) throughout the UK. From July 1st 2007 you will be able to return any WEEE item you have for recycling free of charge.
DCFs will be nationwide and it is likely that your ‘local tip’ has been upgraded to provide this facility. To find your nearest DCF simply click here. The recyle-more website allows you to enter your postcode and you will then be directed to your nearest DCF. More DCFs will be added over time so even if there is not one local to you now there soon will be.
